Agia Galini
Agia Galini is a modern popular seaside resort , southeast and southwest of Rethymno Heraklion built in the ancient harbor of the Minoan Syvritos ( current Amari valley ) called Soylia each year attracts thousands of tourists. West of Agia Galini are wonderful craggy caves , which you can visit by boat only. One such cave called Daedalus as it is said that the workshop was the legendary craftsman Daedalus . In the harbor area rises the rock in the tradition threw Daedalus and Icarus in order to escape from Crete. In honor of the two, statues there to remind the first 2 airmen mythology . Excavations in the area found many archaeological findings columns , sacred relics dedicated to Goddess Artemis, figurines, lamps and busts a wreck of a Roman ship 3rd century AD , which are kept in the Museum of Rethymnon.
