Agios Nikolaos

Agios Nikolaos or Agios  just like characteristics among locals residents , is the largest natural bay in Crete , the ” Mirabello Bay ” as it was called because of the beautiful view (mira bella) you can enjoy some of the city to the sea . The region’s history is marked by the port and was one of the first cities where tourism started developing island and the famous lake of Agios Nikolaos , around which it is built the city center . In the Venetian period the port could accommodate 25 galleys sizable number for the time that  satisfying the needs of Eastern Crete , while today you can fly to the port of Piraeus and several other islands . Agios Nikolaos is ideal for everyone, young, older, couples families, explorers or for those who prefer to spend their holidays on beaches or in other places near him as Elounda or  Ammoudara . If you move from Agios Nikolaos  visit Kritsa attracts several tourists traditional color . For all of you who will stay to Agios Nikolaos and want to explore the regions of Eastern Crete but without  strong tourist  development you can do this either by rental car or organized day trips . The area of Agios Nikolaos is not appropriate for the crazy nightlife but you will find many small bars around the lake and the beach as well as many traditional taverns with  traditional dishes.
